Warmer days, prosecco on the terrace, BBQs on Saturday afternoons. Summer is here. This month, we’re introducing subscribers to À L’aise, a luxury stationery brand created by British designer Suzie Dicker. Next up, we’re unveiling a collaboration with Too Wordy for a hand-lettered piece, and we’re welcoming back illustrator Felicita Sala for a new recipe card. All in the post on 1st July.
Meaning ‘comfortable’ in French, À L’aise is a British stationery brand, focusing on the fine details of paper, minimal colour palettes and design, with luxury finishes. Before we get onto the designs, can we just take a moment to appreciate the decadent envelope (135gsm Colorplan!) that comes with it? If there was ever a reason (do we need one?) to choose pen and paper over technology, this is it. We’ve hand-picked two designs for subscribers to choose their favourite. From this ‘Oh, hey birthday girl’ or ‘Jolly good fellow’ card.
We’ve long been admirers of Maeve Brooks, creator of Too Wordy. Her signature hand-lettering, featuring thick brush strokes has made waves on Instagram, so we asked if she’d create some new artwork for us, exclusively for our members. Sometimes we all need a little pick-me-up and this ‘sending hugs’ design will do just the trick to let the recipient know you’re there. We also recently interviewed Maeve, so have a read here for an insight into Too Wordy’s creative workings.
I’ve been excited to unveil the third design from Felicita. Her illustration style and concept for her range of recipe cards is like nothing I’ve seen before. Long-term subscribers will recall her birthday cake recipe and her margarita recipe from past collections. This time, the Rome-based artist brings us peanut butter cookies. The card, like the cookies, might be too good to share?
We’re posting these out on 1st July, so you won’t be waiting long for your delivery. Use the discount code JOURNAL for 50% off your first month with us. Become a Nester and join here.
